We offer peaceful short stays in Cumbria, with a focus on comfort, calm, and care. Stay Still Awhile began as a personal vision: to create places where people can genuinely unwind. Whether you're here for work, rest, or reconnecting with nature, we’ve considered the little things – soft lighting, local touches, and a smooth self-check-in – to make your stay feel effortless.

Our current spaces include The Annex in Dalston, a quiet retreat ideal for solo travellers or couples, and Cosy Home near the hospital, perfect for visiting family, professionals, or anyone needing a restful base in Carlisle. Can I bring my pet?

We love animals, but unfortunately we don’t allow pets at either property unless written consent has been given in advance.

Is there parking available? 

Yes. - The Annex offers street parking — you can often park just outside, and there’s plenty of free parking nearby. - Cosy Home has one designated parking space.

Is Wi-Fi included?

Absolutely. Both properties include free high-speed Wi-Fi — ideal for working, streaming, or planning your adventures.

What if I need to cancel?

We understand that plans can change. - Full refund if you cancel 3 days or more before check-in - 50% refund if cancelled 1–3 days before check-in - No refund within 12 hours of arrival (If we manage to rebook your dates, we’ll always do our best to offer a goodwill refund.)

Can I check in early or check out late?

Our usual times are: - Check-in from 3:00 PM - Check-out by 10:00 AM We’ll try to accommodate early check-in or late check-out where possible — just ask!

Are your properties suitable for children?

Yes — children are welcome at both properties. - The Annex can accommodate 1 child on a sofa bed in addition to 2 adults. - Cosy Home is great for families, with one double bedroom and a second bedroom with two single beds (a third can be added on request).

Do I need to bring towels or linen?

No need. We provide all bed linen, towels, tea towels, and basic toiletries.

Is there a minimum stay?

Yes — generally there’s a 2-night minimum stay. One-night stays may be available last minute, subject to availability — feel free to enquire or check the booking calendar within two weeks of your arrival date.
